Even Without A Business Plan

What is the cheapest business to start from home?

Starting a business can be daunting if you do not have any business plan in placed, but what about those people who started a business without a business plan? Do they become successful or not?

About five years ago I left my highly successful job as an expat executive for 16 years to start my business where I help future entrepreneurs set their business foundation that scales, get paying clients online to design a life into their liking.

Few weeks into the business, I was able to build my 1000 subscribers and able to make my first $839 from my bedroom without paying anything on paid advertising.

Being an entrepreneur, particularly being an online entrepreneur, is becoming popular nowadays. Everyone daydreaming about quitting the 9-5 job. But what does it really take to start a viable, cheap, but successful business?

When I began my business I purposely want to make things simple to start generating profits. I knew that if I will take advantage of what the technology can give us,  I can definitely help as much future entrepreneurs to start a business that they can own and control and have the limitless potential to scale up without going into the long process of detailed planning.

So, instead of taking the long process of the traditional mainstream business planning, I took more of the practical approach in experimenting what’s working and what’s not working for me.

This practical approach consists of the following:

I realized that people needed help with good business ideas that will help them structure their business foundation the right way with minimal investment. I saw that the majority were confused and didn’t know where and how to start. I knew that if I could spend some time to show them exactly how I build my business online, I am confident that I would be able to help people to developed their own skills for money to become the by-product of what they do because normally the amount of money you can make is proportionate to what value you can give.

I just simply applied my business start-up experience (mainstream) to building my online business – clarifying exactly who my client was, engaging them by using the right message (my value proposition), creating an offer that will help my clients solve their pains or challenges, having the right system for me not to babysit my business.

I started experimenting using the no.1 traffic source in the world, which is Google Adwords and I immediately got my US$88 sale in 2 days – this is not bad at all spending $26 with Google Adwords and get $62 in return right? I  was then able to prove it that building a successful business online is doable and I was able to grow my business from there.

What I learned from this online business lifestyle was that starting your business, whether you are promoting your own product or other people’s product, a digital or physical product, it doesn’t have to be as complicated as we tend to think, in fact, you can start a business by simplifying it – just apply the practical approach that is necessary to your business.

Get What You Deserve

You can take this practical approach of experimenting what’s working for you and not working, provided that you understand the importance of knowing who your customer are, get in front of them and show them how you can help by providing your value proposition to your clients.

It is crucial to any business success to see how the market reacts when you start doing your marketing because if you cannot convert your traffic or leads into sales that means you are not doing your marketing correctly.

The beauty of running your own business is that you are in full control. You can then make immediate adjustments if your campaign doesn’t provide you the results that you want. You can easily make decisions, tweak & adjust and run another experiment – just repeat & rinse!

I can even be more flexible with my pricing, like when I had  my pre-launched for my online training workshop, I initially priced it at $49, then during the launching period I adjusted the price to $97 and the good thing this higher price still works!  The price of your product or services doesn’t matter, but what matter most is to convert your traffic into sales by experimenting with your own practical approach concept because if you see this working, you can even be flexible to sell the same product at the higher price range if you want to.

I have nothing against business planning, in fact this is essential to any business start-up process for small or big companies. When you do business planning you are creating assumptions about your business goals. Most of your data is theoretical or imaginary. Like your monthly sales, cost or your monthly marketing budget. These figures will only come into reality when you have made your first sale, spend money for marketing and  if you actually made a profit in the end. When you do actual selling, you have much real sense of your metrics or numbers and from there you can have a more accurate projections for your business.

Put your performance indicators and numbers to move your business up to the next level. Don’t be afraid to start a business, if I can do this – I know you can do it too!

What you need is only to get started.
